Key Dates For Leicester Schools
Support for new agreed syllabus for RE Leicester Schools
Purpose of training
This training is for those subject leaders who want to start implementing the new syllabus and familiarise themselves with the content. The new syllabus is a very detailed document, with guidance for every year.
The training will include:
· An outline of the new structure: the links between key concepts, learning objectives, outcomes and assessment.
· Guidance about choosing different religions across all years.
· Explanation of new requirements in terms of substantive and disciplinary knowledge.
· Detailed coverage of content for each year, i.e. how to use the different sections of the syllabus, what to include, learning activities, etc. This will provide support in terms of detailed subject knowledge.
· Teaching suggestions, including links to guidance set out in the Appendices, e.g. School Designed Units, Places of Worship in Leicester.
The two days will be repeated during the spring term.
There will be a further training day on assessment during the summer term.
